Julian Schmidli is an investigative reporter at SRF Data», the datajournalism unit of Swiss Public Broadcaster SRF. He's also a teacher and leads workshops on datajournalism and Open Source Intelligence.

He worked at the investigative units of SonntagsZeitung and Tages-Anzeiger as well as a freelance journalist and filmmaker.

Schmidli studied Cultural Anthropology and Media Studies in Basel and graduated with an M.A. in Journalism from the Swiss School of Journalism MAZ and the Hamburg Media School. He is a member of the journalism associations Investigativ.ch and IRE as well as a founder of Reporter:innen-Forum Schweiz.

His first novel «Zeit der Mauersegler» was published in summer 2023 by the Zurich-based publishing house Kein&Aber.
